Falcons Roll To 103-81 Win Over Frostburg State To Cap Regular Season

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State ended the first half on a 16-3 scoring run to grab an 11-point halftime lead, and never looked back in a 103-81 victory over Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena.

The win allowed Fairmont State to end the regular season with a 22-6 overall record, including a 16-16 mark in Mountain East Conference play. The 22-6 regular season record is the best in school history for a first-year head coach. Joe Mazzulla went 21-7 during the 2017-18 regular season, and Jerrod Calhoun took over the program in 2012-13 and went 19-7 during his inaugural regular season.

Calhoun holds the school record for wins by a first-year head coach with 23 during the 2012-13 season (including postseason).

Fairmont State has locked up the No. 3 seed in next week's Mountain East Conference Tournament and will open tournament play against sixth-seeded Glenville State on Friday afternoon at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling. Tip is set for 2:15 p.m. (View Tournament Central)
