Fairmont State Secures Third-Straight Win with Homecoming Victory

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fighting Falcons football team secured its third-straight win at Saturday's Homecoming game, defeating the Alderson Broaddus Battlers 44-10 at Duvall-Rosier Field. 

Fairmont State (3-3, 3-2 MEC) ended the first half with a commanding 20-point lead, holding AB to just three points. In the first quarter, Michael Floria put the Falcons on the board with a seven-yard run into the endzone and then proceeded to complete a touchdown pass to Shawn Harris with 1:11 on the clock. Joshawn Lewis gave the Falcons their third touchdown of the day in the second quarter, off an 11-yard pass from Floria. 

The Falcons were the first to score in the second half, when Floria completed a one-yard pass to Josh Nevers. With 1:56 on the clock, the Battlers scored their lone touchdown of the game, bringing the score 30-10 to end the third quarter.

Floria connected with Michael Nuzum II early in the fourth quarter to extend the Falcons' lead. Later, Jevonn Gilyard proved Fairmont State wasn't done yet, catching a seven-yard pass from Isaac Allegretto with 14 seconds left to score the final touchdown of the game. 

Colin Harvath added five extra points and a 30-yard field goal on the day. Xander Albea rushed for 84 yards to lead Fairmont State's ground game, while Brocton Blair tallied seven solo tackles to lead the Falcons' defense. 

Fairmont State will travel to West Liberty, W.Va. on Saturday, October 16 to take on the Hilltoppers at 1 p.m.
