FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State women's volleyball ended their regular season on a high note with a three-set sweep over the visitors from Frostburg State. The Fighting Falcons took the three sets at 25-10,25-17,and 25-12 to wrap Mountain East Conference action.
The Maroon and White are now 21-9 overall and 11-5 in MEC play and Frostburg State drops to 9-19 and 6-10 in conference action.
Keara Lewis and
Julia DiPaola each collected a double-double on the night with Lewis leading the charge with 15 kills and 10 digs. DiPaola added 12 kills and contributed 11 digs on the evening with
Lilianna Keber starting the attack with 32 assists and dropping in 14 digs for a double-double as well. Lewis also had a match-high five service aces with the Falcons netting eight aces on the contest.
On the defensive side of the net,
Emily Cordle and
Emma Ludwig each had three total blocks with DiPaola also providing two blocks inside Joe Retton Arena.
Karli Edwards had another solid night as she earned 13 digs as the libero.
Fairmont State outhit the Bobcats .390 to .040 and the Falcons had 47 kills to Frostburg State's 21 in the sweep.
Fairmont State women's volleyball (21-9, 11-5 MEC) sits in the third spot in the MEC North division with the conference tournament set to start on Thursday, November 18th. The Fighting Falcons are also ranked eighth in the NCAA Atlantic Region.
