Volleyball Sweeps AB, Improves to 3-1 on the Season

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State rolled to a 3-0 sweep of Alderson Broaddus (25-22, 25-21, 25-14) on Friday evening inside Joe Retton Arena.
 
With the victory, Fairmont State improved to 3-1 both overall and in the Mountain East Conference. AB remains winless at 0-3 on the year.
 
Fairmont State finished the match with a .195 hitting percentage, totaling 41 kills and just 15 errors in the victory. The Falcons also held an 11-3 advantage in blocks, a 5-2 advantage in aces, and a 41-34 edge in total team kills. AB hit just .093 with 34 kills and 22 errors on the evening. The Battlers held a 69-60 advantage in total digs.
 
Keara Lewis led the Falcons in the victory with 12 kills, 10 digs, three aces and three block assists. The Falcons also got 10 kills from Amelia Moore, who finished the evening with just 1 error and totaled a .409 hitting percentage in the win. Julia DiPaola also chipped in seven kills and 11 digs, and Emily Cordle tallied six kills and three block assists.
 
Taylor Wisniewski led the Falcons around the net with a team-high eight total blocks to go with five kills.
 
Lilianna Keber guided the Fairmont State offensive and recorded another double-double on the evening, finishing with 34 assists and 11 digs. Bryce Knapp had a team-high 14 digs to lead the Falcons.
 
Ashlyn McDonald paced AB in the match with 15 kills and 10 digs to record a double-double.
 
Fairmont State will return to action this coming Tuesday when Wheeling University visits Joe Retton Arena for a MEC double header. The opening serve in match one is set for 5 p.m.
