Isaiah Sanders went for a career-high 31 points against his former team to help lead Fairmont State to a 94-84 win over Notre Dame College on Wednesday night at Joe Retton Arena.
Zyon Dobbs also came off the bench and recorded a career-high for the Falcons in the victory with 21.
With the win, Fairmont State improved to 9-2 on the year. Notre Dame dropped to 4-8.
The Falcons shot 55 percent from the field (16-29) and 60 percent from three (9-15) in the opening half to open up a 56-42 advantage, and then held off a late push by NDC to come away with a 10-point win.
Sanders was 8-of-13 from the field, including 7-of-10 from deep and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, to rack up his 31 points. He also had five rebounds and two assists for Fairmont State. Following his performance on Wednesday night, Sanders needs just 12 more points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career.
In addition to his career-high scoring performance, Dobbs also pulled down six rebounds for FSU, while
Cole VonHandorf had 17 points and seven boards.
Dale Bonner had 15 points and four assists.
Przemyslaw Golek scored just three points on the evening, but contributed to the offense by passing out a team-high six assists.
Fairmont State also made a living at the foul line in the win, knocking down 32 of 38 attempts from the charity stripe as NDC was whistled for 27 fouls.
Notre Dame shot 46 percent from the field and held a 38-24 advantage in points in the paint, and a 17-0 advantage on the fast-break.
Marquise Johnson scored a team-high 18 points, and Jordan Burton added 16 for NDC. Jordan Roland added 14 more points, while Michael Sampson pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
Fairmont State will return to the court on Saturday afternoon with a 4:30 p.m. matchup against Alderson Broaddus on the road.
