PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Fairmont State shot 51 percent from the field and scored a season-high 106 points to defeat Alderson Broaddus, 106-93, in a high-scoring game on Saturday afternoon at Rex Pyles Arena.

With the win, the Falcons earned their third-consecutive victory and are now 6-8 on the season. AB fell to 4-9 on the year.

Saturday's victory also evened the season series between the two teams as the Battlers defeated the Falcons, 90-81, back on Jan. 23 in Fairmont.

In the victory, the Falcons got a season-high 20 points from
Bre Wilson, who finishing the game shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Wilson also pulled down five rebounds.
Sierra Kotchman also had a big day for the Falcons with 19 points and four assists.

Leading 55-49 at the break, Fairmont State broke open the close game with a 27-11 scoring advantage in the third quarter, including a 13-2 run over the first five minutes of the quarter.

Fairmont State led by as many as 24 points late in the third quarter, and maintained the double-digit advantage despite 33 points from AB in the fourth quarter.

The Falcons had five players in double-figures as
Jalen Gibbs,
Katy Darnell and
Alyssa DeAngelo joined Wilson and Kotchman in double figures. Gibbs came off the bench and scored 16 points to go with six rebounds, Darnell finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, and DeAngelo chipped in 11 points and four steals.
Madeline Huffman finished with six points and a career-high 11 assists.

Fairmont State did most of their damage from in the paint and at the free throw line, scoring 52 points in the paint and knocking down 28-of-37 attempts from the charity stripe. The Falcons also scored 32 points off 27 AB turnovers.

The Battlers had a commanding 46-32 edge on the glass and scored 24 points as a result of 14 offensive rebounds.

Carissa Spiker paced AB with 32 points and five boards. The Battlers also got 15 points from Iyahnna Williams.

Fairmont State will wrap up the road portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening with a trip to West Liberty. Tip is set for 5 p.m. at the ASRC.
