FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State women's soccer opened the season with a 2-0 win over Wheeling University on Friday evening at Duvall-Rosier Field.

Freshman forward
Kiera Kuzinski scored two goals in her FSU debut on Friday to help lead the Falcons to the win. Her first goal came less than a minute into the game on a shot right in front of the goal following a pass from
Ari Christiansen to earn the assist. The goal was from about eight yards out into the center of the goal.

Kuzinski's second goal came in the 56
th minute from about 12 yards out driving in from the left side of the goal. The score was set up by a pass from
Mackenzie Gillispie.

Statistically, the Falcons dominated the game with a 21-4 advantage in total shots, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. The Falcons also had six corner kick opportunities in the game, compared to just one for Wheeling.

Kuzinski and Christiansen led the Fairmont State offense with four shot attempts each in the win. Kuzinski had three shots on goal, two of which found the back of the net, and Christiansen added two more shots on goal. Gillispie and
Aeriss Efaw also had a pair of on-target shots during the win.

Taylor Kennedy recorded two saves and kept Wheeling off the scoreboard with a strong performance in goal for the Falcons.

Wheeling keeper Jaci Wilson faced 12 on-target shots on the evening and recorded 10 saves.

Fairmont State will return to action next Friday on the road at West Liberty. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
