Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | SID

Soccer Defeats Wheeling 3-2 at Home

Fairmont State picked up a win against conference opponent, Wheeling University, at Duvall-Rosier Field Wednesday evening, bringing the season record to 1-1.

Statistically, Wheeling held an 11-9 advantage in shots on goal, but the Falcons kept the Cardinals scoreless in the second half to secure the 3-2 victory. 

Both teams were tied at the half, with Sophomores Kiera Kuzinski and Jessica Schneider each scoring goals for the Falcons. Freshman Tricia Lemasters, on an assist from Junior Ari Christiansen, scored her first career goal in the 57th minute.

Junior Taylor Kennedy recorded nine saves in the FSU goal, holding off two shots by Wheeling's Kenadee Burgoyne in the final 10 minutes of the game. 

Fairmont State will take on Notre Dame at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 19 in South Euclid, Ohio.
