Fairmont, W.Va. – The Fairmont State University soccer team controlled the flow of the game on Sunday afternoon against Alderson Broaddus to gain a comfortable 4-0 lead. This moves the Falcons' record to 8-2-3 overall and 8-2-2 in conference play.
All four Falcon goals came in the first half, starting with freshman Alejandra Puerto in the 12th minute. In the 21st minute, junior Kiera Kuzinski found the back of the net off an assist made by fellow junior Jessica Schneider. Following shortly after was a goal by senior Elora Shinn in the 25th minute. This was Shinn's first collegiate goal in a Falcon uniform. Kuzinski found Shinn on the back post for a finish that made it 3-0 for the Falcons. For the final goal on the day, senior Mackenzie Gillespie finished her chance off an assist by Puerto in the 33rd minute to make the score 4-0.
The Falcons would continue their defensive efforts into the second half to keep a clean sheet to defend the shutout, the team's fifth in a row. AB was held to just one shot, while the Falcons pushed on with 31 total shots, 15 of those were on frame.
Fairmont State will travel to South Euclid, OH for a contest against Notre Dame College on Wednesday, October 16th at 12:00 p.m.
