FAIRMONT, W.Va. – No. 12 Fairmont State (5-0, 3-0 Mountain East Conference) outscored Charleston (3-4, 2-1 MEC) 15-2 in the final five minutes to claim a 74-61 win on Wednesday night at Joe Retton Arena.
George Mangas' three-pointer put Fairmont State up for good with 4:48 left on the clock. Mangas shot 80 percent and sank two three-point baskets to lead all scorers with 19 points.
Tariq Woody did not miss a shot from the field, making seven duces for 14 points.
Briggs Parris picked up multiple clutch buckets down the stretch and was the third Falcon in double figures with 11 points.

Zyon Dobbs crashed the glass and each grabbed eight rebounds.
Isaiah Sanders led the Falcons with five assists and three steals. In Wednesday night's game, Sanders passed Ted Darcus for 28
th on the school's all-time scoring leaders list. Sanders has totaled 1,590 points during his career in Fairmont. Darcus was inducted into the Fairmont State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. Sanders' streak of scoring in double figures concluded in Wednesday night's game. The Sicklerville, N.J. native completed a 65-game stretch in which he tallied double digits in points. The last time Sanders was held to under double figures was on Feb. 5, 2020, versus Glenville State.
The visitors came out of the gates hot and amassed a 12-point lead after a CJ Meredith triple with 13:56 in the first half. Fairmont State closed the gap to one point after Mangas concluded an 11-point run that put the Falcons within one point. Parris evened the score at 28 when he swished a three-pointer at the 5:03 mark. The Falcons finished the first half on a 10-2 run to seize a five-point cushion at the break.
The Falcons continued to roll at the start of the second half. Two free throws from Sanders and a pair of made jumpers from Mangas put Fairmont State ahead by double figures for the first time of the night. The Golden Eagles showed resolve and reclaimed the lead after Keaton Turner made a three with 6:56 remaining. Sanders delivered a clutch layup to put the Falcons back in front. Turner responded with a layup to pull the Golden Eagles ahead. Mangas hit a triple that ignited a 15-point scoring spree for the Falcons. Fairmont State held the Golden Eagles to four points in the final five minutes of the contest.
Fairmont State plays No. 25 West Virginia State on the road Saturday (Dec. 3). Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
