Fairmont State Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Penn State Greater Allegheny 130-75

The Falcons hit 26 three-point baskets, which is the third-highest single-game total in Mountain East Conference history.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State men's basketball team (8-3) won its third-straight game after defeating Penn State Greater Allegheny (5-13) 130-75 on Sunday (Dec. 18) afternoon at Joe Retton Arena.
 
The Falcons swished 26 shots from beyond the arc, which is the third-highest single-game total in Mountain East Conference History. Eight Falcons hit multiple three-pointers and Fonz Hale, Adam Deininger and Przemyslaw Golek all drained four three-pointers. Deininger led the Falcons in the scorebook and finished with 18 points and shot 7-for-8 from the field. Golek tossed in 16 points while Zyon Dobbs and George Mangas finished with 14 points. Dobbs was one assist shy of a double-double and he led Fairmont State with three steals. Hale (12 points), Isaiah Sanders (11 points) and David Jolinder (10 points) rounded out the players who reached double-figures. Zac Kimball pulled down nine rebounds and scored nine points.
 
The Falcons led wire-to-wire and opened the game by scoring 28 of the first 31 points. Tyheil Peterson capped off a 12-0 scoring run with a steal and a fast break layup. The Fighting Falcons tallied 45 fast break points in the contest. A Dobbs three-pointer finished a Fairmont State 11-0 run and the Falcons led 41-5 halfway through the first half. Hale made a pair of three-pointers in under two minutes to extend the Falcons' lead to 58-17 with 5:06 left in the half. The Falcons led by as many as 45 points in the first half and held a commanding 70-27 lead after one.
 
PSUGA would not trail by fewer than 35 points in the second half. The Falcons made 14 threes in the second half. Golek continued his strong perimeter shooting and hit two three-pointers in less than 90 seconds of game time. Trey Washenitz's three-pointer at 8:59 pushed the Fairmont State lead to over 50 points for the first time in the contest. The Falcons controlled the remainder of the game and won by 55 points.
 
Fairmont State men's basketball will travel to Bowling Green on Monday (Dec. 19) morning for an exhibition game in Ohio at 11 a.m.
