WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Fairmont State Softball returned to the diamond on Monday afternoon to play two more games as part of the "PFX Spring Games" in the Sunshine State. The Fighting Falcons dropped the first contest,9-1, to Davenport University and fell to Gannon University, 3-2, in the second contest of the day.
GAME 1 (Fairmont State 1, Davenport 9 F/5)

Hannah Workman, and
Emily Riggs all recorded a hit in the first game on Monday morning against the Davenport Panthers as DU claimed the 9-1 decision over the Falcons in five innings.
Workman singled that plated
Jordan Novak in the bottom of the fifth as the game went final after five.
Ashley Strauss started on the mound for Fairmont State as Strauss went three full innings and allowed three hits, three earned runs, and struck out two Panthers in the contest. Riggs doubled in the bottom of the fourth as the only extra-base hit for the Falcons in the contest.
GAME 2 (Fairmont State 2, Gannon 3)
In the second game of the day, the Falcons and Golden Knights were locked in a 0-0 tie through four innings before Fairmont State got on the board with two runs. Gannon took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with the go-ahead three-run home run by Kristina Dematteis.
Isabella Yelle started the fifth inning with a single and advanced to a second on an error by Gannon's center fielder. Moyer doubled two batters later and scored on the same play as well after plating Yelle from second base.
In the top of the seventh, Yelle reached on base via a Gannon error, but Fairmont State was unable to tie the game as the Golden Knights secured the 3-2 victory on Monday afternoon.
Caitlyn Kassay went five and one-third innings pitched in the contest with Gannon and allowed five hits, three runs (three earned), and collected two strikeouts as well.
Ally Maddy came in relief of Kassay for two-thirds of an inning and did not allow Gannon to score the rest of the way.
Fairmont State Softball returns to the Polk State Diamondplex tomorrow morning as the Falcons take on two Great Midwest Athletic Conference members in Kentucky Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and the University of Findlay at 12:15 p.m. in Winter Haven, Florida.
