Fairmont State Tennis Programs Sweep Hanover on Monday

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Fairmont State Men's and Women's Tennis began their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Monday afternoon with matches against Hanover College. Fairmont State Men's Tennis earned a 7-0 victory over the Panthers and the women's tennis team opened their season with a 6-1 win over Hanover.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (Fairmont State 6, Hanover 1)

The Fighting Falcons earned the one-point advantage out of the doubles matches with Hanover as Hannah Sprout and Ana Carolina Tacchi started their day with a 6-0 decision over Hanover's three doubles. Ainara Pastor Garcia and Isadora Matos followed with a 6-1 set win over Hanover's number one pair and Emme McKnight and Candela Sevilla closed the doubles matches with a 6-1 victory over Hanover's number two doubles.

Fairmont State continued its dominance in the singles matches as well with five individual matches with Isadora Matos defaulting after leading 6-2, 4-1 in the second set of her match.

Pastor Garcia rolled past Hanover's Maddie Shannon, 6-1, 6-1 in #1 singles and Sevilla earned the 6-0, 6-2 straight-set victory at #3 singles. 

McKnight followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #4 singles and Ana Carolina Tacchi won her first singles match at Fairmont State at 6-2, 6-1. 

Trang Hong Nguyen closed the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #6 singles for the Fighting Falcons.

MEN'S TENNIS (Fairmont State 7, Hanover 0)

Fairmont State Men's Tennis followed suit with a 7-0 match victory over the Panthers in South Carolina this afternoon. The Falcons are now 2-1 in the spring season after a 4-3 decision over Ashland University on February 20th.

Bartosz Losiak and Elia Barozzi team up at the #1 doubles for the 6-3 set victory over Hanover and Seena Saadevandi and David Velayos won 6-3 at #2 doubles. Freshman duo Alex Stacy and Jacob Boone picked up a 6-2 result at the #3 doubles.

In the singles portion, Losiak earned his first win of the spring season in singles at 6-1, 6-1 over Hanover's Joey Keal.

Elia Barozzi started his spring break trip in straight sets at 6-4, 6-4 over Pablo Gallart.

Saadevandi continued his strong play in the early season with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-2 (Super Tiebreaker) win at number three singles.

Velayos earned the quick 6-1, 6-0 decision at #4 singles.

Stacy blanked his opponent at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Jacob Boone closed the match at #6 singles with a straight-set victory (6-1, 6-1).

Fairmont State Men's and Women's Tennis are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. against Augusta University in the Spring Break Tennis Fest.
