Volleyball goes 3-1 on the weekend

Volleyball improves to 12-2 on the year

Wheeling, W. VA., -- Fairmont State Volleyball responded very well today after suffering their first loss of the season yesterday. They went 2-0 on the day and 3-1 on the weekend. 
 
The day started with a 5 set thriller win against Shippensburg. They started out quick with a 25-23 set one win and 25-13 set two win. Shippensburg responded well, winning the next two sets setting up the pivotal fifth set. It was a tight battle but we came out on top with a 15-10 victory. Your match leaders in Kills were Nyla Birch 13, Madison Chapman 12 and Joey Borelle with 11. Your assists leaders were Lauren Albrecht with 21 and Kelsie Dangerfield with 22. Bryce Knapp had another stellar performance getting 34 Digs, 9 Assists and 1 Ace. Lauren Albrecht also chipped in with 9 digs. Your Blocks leaders were Amelia Moore with 9, Nyla Birch with 8 and Emma Ludwig with 6. After that crazy win they turned their attention quickly to a match against Slippery Rock.

Similar to the previous match your Falcons started out fast winning set one 25-19 and set two 25-22. Slippery Rock wouldn't back and won set three 25-18. The Fighting Falcons sealed the deal in set four with a 25-18 win. Your match leaders in Kills were Nyla Birch 11, Joey Borelle with 10 and   Madison Chapman with 7. Your assists leaders were Lauren Albrecht with 24 and Cayden Anschutz with 18. Bryce Knapp capped off her amazing weekend with 24 Digs, 6 Assists and 2 Ace. Karli Edwards also chipped in with 9 digs. Your Blocks leaders were Amelia Moore and Nyla Birch with 5 and Emma Ludwig with 3.
 
After another solid weekend the volleyball team improves to 12-1 on the year. Your Falcons are back in action Tuesday September 13th at Shepherd University. Action starts at 6:00 PM.
