Frostburg, MD -- The Falcons came into the contest at Frostburg State, wanting to knock off the 6-0 Bobcats. Fairmont State was unable to do so, as they fell 3-0, which makes their record 2-2-2 on the season, and 2-2-1 in the MEC.
Fairmont State had 11 shots total, with 4 being on goal. Junior forward Kiera Kuzinski and freshman forward Alejandra Puerto led with the shots on goal, at two apiece. Frostburg had a bit of a gain on the Falcons with 12 total shots, 6 being on goal.
The Frostburg State goalkeeper was forced to make 4 saves. On the Fairmont State defensive side, senior goalkeeper Taylor Kennedy had 3 saves on the evening.
The Falcons were able to hold off the Bobcats until the 33rd minute when a penalty kick was given, which would make it 1-0 over Fairmont State.
In the second half, the Falcons would push on, but it wasn't enough for the contest. Frostburg State would get away with two more goals, the first in the 54th and the second in the 72nd minute. The third goal for the Bobcats would end the scoring in the match.
Fairmont State will look to bounce back against West Virginia Wesleyan College when they will host the Bobcats at Duvall-Rosier Field on Sunday, September 25th at 1:00 p.m.
