ALLIANCE, Ohio – Colton Stoneking racked up four wins and claimed second place in the 149 lbs bracket at the Purple Raider Open on Sunday (Jan. 15).
 
Stoneking started the day with an 8-3 decision win in the first round and won a 1-0 decision versus a wrestler from Virginia Tech. He won a 3-2 decision versus an opponent from West Virginia in the quarterfinals and then dethroned his opponent from Mount Union on an 8-2 decision in the semifinals. Stoneking has won nine of his first 10 matches as a Fighting Falcon.
 
Kolton Parsons pinned his opponent after receiving a bye in the first round in the 149-pound division. Parsons recorded the fall in 2:07 of the first round. In the heavyweight division, Mason Atkinson won his first battle in a 2-1 decision.
 
The Fairmont State wrestling team will travel to West Liberty, W.Va. for a pair of conference duals on Thursday (Jan. 19). The Fighting Falcons will take on Notre Dame (Ohio) and West Liberty beginning at 5 p.m.
