FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State men's basketball team (9-5, 4-3 Mountain East Conference) earned a 92-80 home conference win over Alderson Broaddus (3-8, 2-5 MEC) on Wednesday (Jan. 4) night at Joe Retton Arena in Fairmont, W.Va.

George Mangas was 9-of-11 from the field and led Fairmont State with 18 points. Mangas added three steals and two assists to his final stat line.
Isaiah Sanders netted 17 points and added seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
Zyon Dobbs netted 15 points and snagged the most rebounds (8). Dobbs and
David Jolinder both handed out four assists. Jolinder forced four steals and hustled for a trio of offensive rebounds.
Fonz Hale and
Briggs Parris both converted three shots from beyond the arc and reached double figures in points.

Fairmont State powered its way to 44 points in the paint and finished with 15 second-chance points. The Fighting Falcons outscored AB 21-10 in transition and 27-13 in bench points.

The Battlers jumped out to an early lead and led by seven points with 12:57 left in the first half. Parris connected on a three that cut the deficit to four points with 12:46 on the clock. Sanders hit his second three-pointer of the half that brought Fairmont State within one point with 11:08 remaining in the opening half. After a
Tariq Woody steal, Mangas finished on the other end with a fastbreak layup that put the Fighting Falcons ahead and forced an Alderson Broaddus timeout. A Jolinder steal and outlet pass to Mangas completed an 11-point scoring run and pushed the Fairmont State lead to five points with just over eight minutes remaining in the half. The Fighting Falcons led by as many as 13 points in the first half. Mangas poked a steal and added a layup before the final buzzer and the Fighting Falcons led 47-36 at the break.

Fairmont State continued to force turnovers and finish at the offensive end. After a three from Hale, Sanders picked off an AB pass and scored a driving layup at the other end to extend the lead to 21 points. Parris hit his second three of the game and the Fighting Falcons held a 66-44 lead. Dobbs and Sanders combined to score seven points to make up Fairmont State's largest scoring run of the second half and increased the Fighting Falcon lead to 24 with 7:58 remaining. Mangas scored his 18
th point of the game and pushed the lead to 26 at the 6:47 mark. The Fighting Falcons claimed a 12-point win at home.
