FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Fairmont State men's basketball team (6-3 overall, 2-3 Mountain East Conference) took down the Bethany College Bisons (4-7, 3-3) in a 117-81 contest on Wednesday (Dec. 13) afternoon.
The squad shot well from the three-point-line going 19-43, as a group.
Tommy Williams notched a career high 32 points, going 10-15 from behind the arc. Zion Dobbs recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons.
Tyheil Peterson scored 15 points and dished out 5 assists.
Callum Crossman had 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Colin Comer had 12 points, while
Seth Younkin had 7 of his own to go along with 9 rebounds.
Cameron Whiteside had 6 points and 8 assists on the day.
Comer had the first three points for FSU off a free throw and a driving layup. Williams started to catch some heat from behind the three-point line less than four minutes into the game. Dobbs nailed a layup off an assist from Jaiden West to put his side up 21-12. Crossman had a layup and Williams notched another triple.
Cameron Whiteside managed a layup with just under nine minutes to go in the first. Williams and Comer both drained shots from downtown to put the Falcons up by ten. Peterson recorded a layup with 2:53 to go in the opening period. Williams notched his sixth three of the afternoon before the halftime break to make the score 60-47.
Two dunks from Younkin just over a minute apart opened up the second half. A Peterson three helped the FSU lead to 69-53. Staying right where he left off at halftime, Williams also drained a triple. Similar to Younkin, Crossman managed two dunks in under 1:30 apart of one another to build on the excitement at Joe Retton Arena. Dobbs nailed two layups to force a 90-66 score line over the Bisons. Williams and West each knocked down a three-pointer. Crossman continued to have success offensively with a dunk and a layup for FSU.
Adam Deininger hit a three ball to put the Falcons up by 30, 106-76. Peterson notched another three, which was followed by Deininger.
Baran Aslan continued the team's successful three-point shooting with one himself with 1:20 to play in the contest for a 117-79 score. The Falcons rolled to a 117-81 victory over Bethany College.
