GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Fairmont State women's tennis team competed in its first NCAA Tournament event in program history on Monday (May 1) and fell to three-seeded Slippery Rock 4-1 at the Greensburg Racquet Club in Greensburg, Pa.

The Falcons won the doubles point after
Elodie Buclin and
Maria Fonseca defeated Ad Gonzalez Sanchez and Teddi Isherwood in the No. 1 spot.
Emme McKnight and
Ainara Pastor Garcia bested Ga del Val del Toro and Nuria Martin Lopez 7-5 in the No. 2 spot to capture the doubles point for Fairmont State. SRU won No. 3 doubles 6-3 after
Luiza Parreira and
Candela Sevilla dropped their match 6-3.

Val del Toro defeated Pastor Garcia at No. 2 singles to get The Rock on the scoreboard. Dari Sakhanova defeated Parreira 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Gonzalez Sanchez edged Fonseca, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Georgia Lancaster completed the dual with a win at No. 6 over Sevilla, 6-2, 6-3.

Fairmont State finishes the season 13-7 and collected the most dual wins since the 2011-12 season, when the Falcons won 12 duals.
