FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University women's volleyball team returned home to face California University of Pennsylvania in non-conference action. The Falcons hit for .305 on the evening as the team swept the Vulcans, 3-0.

Joey Borelle led the offense with 16 kills while Baylie Ostvig added 14. Defensively, Borelle tallied 14 digs as Josie Skinn finished with 10 as Alexa Martin blocked four attacks.

The first set was all Fairmont State as it opened with the first 12 points. The hosts cruised to a 25-8 set win. 

Moving to the second set, the Falcons continued its host start by opening a 10-3 with three kills from Borelle and Ostvig. California was able to narrow the margin to four (20-16) but Fairmont State won five of the final six points with three kills off the hand of Ostvig.

Just like the first two sets, it was the Falcons who commanded the early lead. The Vulcans were able to tie the set stay within striking distance until the end. Leading 18-15, Fairmont State took control and won the final seven points with an ace from Ashlyn Six to secure the sweep.

Fairmont State (7-2) heads to Wheeling, West Virginia on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21 for the Atlantic Region Volleyball Crossover. The Falcons open play against Shippensburg University on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Wheeling University.
