GLENVILLE, W.Va. — The Fairmont State University women's basketball team began a two-game road trip against Glenville State University. The Falcons used a strong first half that led to 91-49 victory over the Pioneers.
Leslie Huffman led the way for the Falcons with 22 points, going 7-9 from the field and 4-4 at three-point distance.
Aaliyah Brunny recorded a double-double with 21 points (career high) and 10 rebounds.
Fairmont State (17-3, 11-2) started the game with five-straight points including an and-one play from
Leslie Huffman. After Glenville State (13-7, 8-5) got on the board, the Falcons continued to add to their lead and eventually led by 13 (23-10) with 4:03 left in the first period. FSU kept the offensive dominance going by outscoring the Pioneers 15-4 and led 38-14 going to the second period.
In the second period, Glenville State scored the first basket but Fairmont State showed no signs of slowing down. FSU won the period, 24-8 with nine points from
Alyssa DeAngelo and six from
Aaliyah Brunny. At the half, Fairmont State led 62-22.
Holding a large lead, the two sides were nearly evenly matched. Over the final 20 minutes, the Falcons added 29 points to their total meanwhile the Pioneers scored 27 as the visitors claimed the 42-point victory.
Fairmont State continues its brief road trip on Wednesday, February 5 at the University of Charleston. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
