FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University Department of Athletics and the Fairmont State Athletic Association announced the 2025 Fairmont State Athletics Hall of Fame Class on Thursday (Aug. 7).
The Class of 2025 includes Howard "Butch" Collins (Wrestling), Dee (Corder) Johnson (Cheerleading/Coach), Bill Cushing (Swimming), Homer Delovich (Golf), Ed Denny (Coach), Larry Hill (Football/Coach), Michael Maximin (Football). Matt Bingaya, a member of the Class of 2024, will be honored during this year's event.
The Fairmont Sate Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Friday, October 10 in the Falcon Center Gym 1. The social hour is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. with the dinner and induction ceremony to follow at 6:00 p.m. Tickets and table sponsorship can be purchased by visiting the

Matt Bingaya (Men's Basketball, 2013-17)
Matt Bingaya ended his time at Fairmont State as a member of the 1,000-point club with 1,229 total points. For his career, he ranks fifth in field-goal percentage with 58.9-percent (465-789). In 2016 and 2017, he was named First Team All-MEC.
Bingaya was voted a consensus first team All-American after leading the Falcons to the NCAA National Championship Game in 2017. Bingaya earned first team All-American honors from D2CCA, NABC, Basketball Times and the D2 Bulletin. Along with being a consensus first team All-American, Matt was also voted the Mountain East Conference player of the year, D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Bevo Francis National Player of the Year award.
Howard "Butch" Collins (Wrestling, 1972-1976)
Butch Collins was one of the most decorated wrestlers during the first installment of the team at Fairmont State University. During his time, he was a three-time WVIAC Champion at the 177-pound weight class. The lone year he did not win, he was the runner up at the conference championship.
He was also part of three conference championship teams (1973, 1974 and 1976). He qualified for the national tournament three times and was a four-year letterman for the Falcons. After Fairmont State, he was named the Wrestling Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Post for the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference for his year at Simon Kenton High School.
Dee (Corder) Johnson (Cheerleading, 1996-99)
Dee (Corder) Johnson was a four-year member of the cheerleading team at Fairmont State University. Over those years, she was part of two UCA National Runner-Ups along with two third-place finishes. Over that four-year stretch, she was part of four conference championships.
After graduation, she served as a coach and helped lead the team to four UCA National Championships with eight conference championships to go along with national titles.
Bill Cushing (Men's Swimming & Diving, 1984-88)
Bill Cushing is a highly decorated diver for Fairmont State over his four years on the team. He won four-straight conference titles at the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dive for the Falcons. Qualifying for the NAIA National Championships all four years, he placed each time including two National Championships in the 3-Meter Dive in 1986 and 1988.
The years he placed at the national championships, he took home second place (1986) and third place (1987 and 1988) for the 1-Meter dive. Alongside his two national titles, he also took home second place in the 3-Meter dive in 1987.
Ed Denny (Coach, 1992-01)
Ed Denny led the Fairmont State men's and women's swimming programs for nearly a decade with great success. During his time, helped the teams transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. Over that time, he coached 17 individuals to 59 NAIA All-American honors including an NAIA National Championship title. As the team moved to the NCAA, he saw nine student-athletes reach 29 different All-American honors.
He was a four-time WVIAC Men's Coach of the Year (1994, 1996, 1999 and 2001) while also being named the Penn-Ohio Conference Coach of the Year in 1996. Outside of Fairmont State, Denny coached a swimmer to three NCAA Division II national titles. He is also a member of the Kanawha Valley Swimming Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Kiski School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
Homer Delovich (Men's Golf, 1954-1959)
Homer Delovich was part of a golden era for men's golf at Fairmont State. He was part of the team when they won three WVIAC Championships (1956, 1958 and 1959).
In 1958, Delovich was the captain of the men's golf team and was an integral part of the team that made the NAIA Championship Tournament that season. At the national tournament, he took part in the NAIA Driving Contest and was crowned the champion.
Larry Hill (Football/Coach)
Larry Hill was a standout as a student-athlete and coach for Fairmont State University. He was a two-time All-WVIAC honoree in football including First-Team in 1966 and was named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.
In 1970, Hill returned to campus as an assistant football coach for 13 seasons as the Falcons won five WVIAC Championships. During those same years, Hill also led the men's golf team for four years including the 1973 WVIAC Championship and led them to a 15
th-place finish at the NAIA Golf Championship.
Hill then took over the volleyball program in 1984 and led them for 30 seasons. Over that time, he led the team to 633 victories as the Falcons were atop the conference on five occasions (1988, 1989, 1990, 1998 and 1999) as the team also made the national tournaments four times. Hill was named WVIAC Coach of the Year four times and was also named an NCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 1998.
Michael Maximin (Football, 1972-1975)
Michael Maximin was a standout for the Fairmont State football team in the backfield. He currently ranks second all-time in rushing attempts with 725 while sitting third all-time in career rushing with 3,199 yards.
Maximin is a two-time All-WVIAC running back (1974 and 1975) while also being an All-American Honorable Mention in 1975. During the 1975 season, Fairmont State played in the Shrine Bowl with Maximin being named the Most Valuable Player for the game.
In addition to the newest class, Fairmont State will recognize several championship teams from its illustrious history. These teams include the 2000 football team, the 1975, 1995 and 2005 swimming teams. Also being honored will be the 1995, 2001-03, 2005 and 2010 cheerleading teams.
