FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State University and the athletic department is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Robert "Buck" Thompson.

A native of Fairmont, Buck was a graduate of Fairmont State in 1953. Following his graduation, Buck remained tied to the university as he served as the president of the Fairmont State Alumni Association as well as a supporter of all the athletic teams at Fairmont State.

Funeral arrangements for Buck have been entrusted to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, located at 201 Columbia Street in Fairmont. Family and friends may pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, June 21, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 22, at Central United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service celebrating Buck's life at 11 a.m.
