WHEELING, W.Va. — Fairmont State faced off against California University of Pennsylvania and Clarion in a tournament at the Alma Grace McDonough Center, resulting in a split outcome. The Falcons took down Clarion in a four-set battle, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, before falling to CalU in a four-set match, 25-16, 6-25, 25-23, 25-20.
Starting with the match against Clarion, Fairmont State opened strong, highlighted by
Kelsie Dangerfield's three consecutive service aces, establishing an early 3-0 lead. They extended this with a 7-0 run, solidifying their control with contributions from Nobbe and Zemba, leading to a 25-15 victory in the first set.
The second set saw the Falcons maintain a narrow lead early, with Borelle contributing multiple kills. Despite leading 22-16, Clarion staged a comeback to win the set 25-23.
