BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Fairmont State men's and women's swim teams opened the new season competing at The Bridge Sports Complex in a relay meet with Salem University and Davis & Elkins College.
The Falcon women won six of the nine relays contested, including a one-two finish in the 200-freestyle relay. They also finished first in the 3x100 breaststroke relay, 800-freestyle relay, 500-freestyle relay (50-100-150-200), 4x100 individual medley relay, and 400-freestyle relay.
The victorious 200-freestyle relay team of
Zoe Hoover,
Maitlyn Miller,
Mia Abruzzino, and
Delaney Householder finished in a time of 1:42.04.
Rachel Shryock,
Veronica Mann,
Emily Durst, and
Olivia Ridenour completed the one-two finish; finishing in a time of 1:48.48. The 3x100 breaststroke relay team (Ridenour,
Marra Johnson, Alicia Pérez) finished in 3:42.47. The 800-freestyle relay team (Shryock, Durst,
Victoria Anderson, Mann) finished in 8:51.92. The 500-freestyle relay team (Miller, Hoover, Abruzzino, Perez) finished in 4:59.44. The 4x100 individual medley relay team (Ridenour, Johnson,
Ashlyn Bennington, Perez) finished in 4:38.67. The 400-freestyle relay team (Householder, Abruzzino, Miller, Hoover) finished in 3:46.19.
Additionally, Householder led off the 3x100 backstroke relay in 1:00.38, the sixth-fastest time in school history. In leading off the 400-freestyle relay, Householder's time of 54.73 puts her ninth-fastest in school history.
Fairmont State's men were victorious in the 200-freestyle relay in a time of 1:28.18.
Vladimir Fedoseev led off the relay in 20.80, a time that would have won the Great Midwest/Mountain East Conference Championships last season.

George Ferguson, and
Gabriel Noguera teamed up with Fedoseev in the win.
The Falcons compete next at the West Virginia State Games at the Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Saturday, October 4. The first session begins at 10am, while the second session starts at 4pm.
