FROSTBURG, Md. — Fairmont State (15-3, 9-2 MEC) defeated Frostburg State (9-9, 5-6 MEC), 78-71, with a decisive 16 steals that led to 33 points off turnovers. The Falcons outscored the Bobcats 52-20 in the paint, securing the victory in the league matchup at Bobcat Arena.
Fairmont State opened the first quarter by focusing on scoring in the paint, with
Alanna Tate contributing an early layup.
Zaniya Murray added to the effort with a fast-break layup at 5:31, following her own steal. Despite Fairmont's efforts, Frostburg State maintained a lead by capitalizing on offensive rebounds.
Haylen Cook's three-pointer at 1:36 narrowed the gap, but Fairmont St. trailed 19-13 at the end of the quarter.
Fairmont State gained momentum midway through the second quarter with
Gabby Reep's crucial 3-pointer at 2:49, narrowing the gap against Frostburg St. Reep continued to drive the offense, completing a fast-break layup and free throw at 2:02 to push the score to 26–34. Despite their efforts, Fairmont State trailed 37–30 at the end of the second quarter.

Their defense was pivotal, forcing multiple turnovers and securing crucial rebounds, which limited the Bobcats' scoring opportunities.
