FAIRMONT, W. Va. - The Mountain East Conference has announced Monday the winners of this week's Football Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan. 

Fairmont State's linebacker Jeffery Polk was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Polk, a linebacker from Pickens, Mississippi locked down Fairmont State's defense in their Oct. 10 contest against West Virginia Wesleyan. Polk tallied 16 total tackles, including 11 assisted as well as five solo stops.
