WILSON, N.C. — Fairmont State (3-1) had a day of mixed results at Jeffries Field on Saturday, beginning with a decisive 9-0 victory over West Chester (0-3) in the morning, followed by a 4-2 loss to Barton (5-3) in the afternoon.

**Game 1 Overview:**
Fairmont State's offense shone brightly against West Chester, highlighted by a third-inning surge that propelled the Falcons to a commanding 9-0 win. The Falcons amassed 15 hits, with their scoring starting in the first inning due to a fielding error that allowed Gabby Bibb to score an unearned run after a single by Alexa Foresha, putting Fairmont State ahead 1-0.

The third inning began with singles by Avery Townsend and Foresha, leading to an RBI single from Breonna Marietta. Jaylin McGill followed with a double, scoring another run before reaching home on a wild pitch. Paige Matteson extended the lead with a sacrifice fly, and the inning concluded with the Falcons leading 7-0.

In the fourth inning, Sydney Emanuel doubled, and Carly Crowder launched a two-run homer to left field, bringing the score to 9-0. Fairmont State's defense was unyielding, allowing no runs from the Golden Rams, resulting in a five-inning shutout.

Delaney Haller pitched 3 2/3 innings, surrendering no earned runs on three hits, with one strikeout and one walk. Liz Alsop came in for 1 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and securing the win. **Game 2 Overview:**
In the afternoon matchup against Barton, Fairmont State found themselves in a tough position early on, trailing 3-0 after the first inning due to a fielding error that allowed Barton to capitalize, including a two-RBI triple from Madison Mercer.

Fairmont State began to rally in the fourth inning. Breonna Marietta led off with a single, followed by Jaylin McGill's single that advanced her to third. A sacrifice fly from Paige Matteson allowed McGill to score, narrowing the gap to 4-1.

Continuing their fight in the sixth inning, Marietta registered another single, and McGill hit a double, allowing Marietta to score on Matteson's subsequent RBI single. Despite the efforts, Fairmont State couldn't close the gap further, and the game ended with a final score of 4-2.
