Fairmont State Hits 15 Three-Pointers in 30-point Victory

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Fairmont State University (23-4, 16-3 MEC) secured a commanding 101-71 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan College (2-24, 1-18 MEC) on Wednesday at Rockefeller Center. The Falcons made 15 3-pointers and dominated inside with 40 points in the paint.

Fairmont State opened the game with a quick offensive burst, taking an early lead behind Drey Carter's effective play in the paint. The team capitalized on fast break opportunities and secured important defensive stops, including three blocks and six steals.

The team extended its lead through consistent shooting from beyond the arc, with CJ Meredith and David Jolinder both hitting key 3-pointers. The Falcons concluded the first half with a 44–33 advantage.

Fairmont State opened the second half with a dominant offensive push, extending its lead with a series of key plays. Rene Diop initiated the scoring with a layup and Carter added a tip-in. As the half progressed, the Falcons continued to capitalize on opportunities, with Peterson hitting a 3-pointer and Carter contributing from both inside and beyond the arc. The team maintained its defensive pressure, with Joey Brown and Anthony Spatafore both adding points from fast breaks.

The Falcons closed the half with a strong finish, highlighted by George Mangas scoring five consecutive points, including a 3-pointer. The visitors concluded the half by outscoring the Bobcats 57-38, leading to the 30-point victory.

Carter led the Falcons with 18 points and collected nine rebounds. Peterson added 16 points, converting four of four from beyond the arc, and recorded four steals. Meredith posted 17 points, successfully making five 3-pointers on seven attempts. Diop contributed defensively with four blocks while adding five points.

Fairmont State welcomes Frostburg State University for the final home game of the regular season on Saturday, February 28. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m. with Senior Day recognition to occur before the game.
