MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Fairmont State University (12-10, 6-4 MEC) swept Davis & Elkins College (4-21, 2-6 MEC) in a doubleheader on Saturday at Dale Miller Field, securing a decisive 9-0 victory in the first game and a thrilling 5-3 win in the second.

Game 1: Fairmont State 9, Davis & Elkins 0

In Game 1, the Falcons showcased a dominant performance, highlighted by a six-run inning in the sixth. Fairmont State's offense recorded 12 hits and maintained a flawless defensive effort with no errors. They jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Bryont Green singled and advanced to third on a fielder's choice, scoring alongside Cameron Moore on a two-RBI single by Drew Emrich, placing the score at 2-0.

The Falcons continued to build their lead in the third inning with Green walking, stealing second, and scoring on Moore's RBI single, extending the advantage to 3-0.

The sixth inning saw TJ Hughes hit a two-run homer down the left field line, bringing Cam Cole home, followed by a series of hits including an RBI double by Emrich and a double from Reilly Bubb that added another run. A single from Maddox Johnston, coupled with a fielding error by the center fielder, capped off a six-run inning, bringing the score to 9-0.

Micah Canterbury was stellar on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout over seven innings, allowing only three hits, issuing two walks, and striking out eight batters.

Bryont Green stole three bases and scored two runs, while TJ Hughes contributed significantly with a home run and two RBIs. Drew Emrich finished with three hits and three RBIs, including a double.
