FROSTBURG, Md. — Fairmont State University (29-9, 17-3) had a successful doubleheader against Frostburg State University (32-8, 15-5), winning 7-5 in the first game and 16-6 in the second.
Game 1: Fairmont State 7, Frostburg State 5 (10 Inn.)
In the first game, Frostburg State took an early lead in the first inning. Gracie Nelson scored on a passed ball, followed by Brianna Russo scoring on a fielder's choice. The inning ended with Frostburg State leading 2-0.
In the fifth inning, Frostburg State extended its advantage when Brianna Russo hit a solo home run, bringing the score to 3-0.
Fairmont State mounted a significant comeback in the seventh inning.
Alexa Foresha hit a three-run home run, aided by an error, tying the game at 3-3.
The game remained tied until the tenth inning, where the Falcons took control.
Breonna Marietta hit a three-run home run, and an additional run scored on an error, putting Fairmont State ahead 7-3.
The Bobcats responded with two runs in their half of the inning, but Fairmont State secured the victory with a final score of 7-5.
Micah Wilson started on the mound for Fairmont State, pitching 5 innings and allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits with 2 strikeouts.
Allyson Nordling took over in relief, contributing 3 2/3 innings and surrendering 4 hits while striking out 2 batters.

In the second game, Fairmont State opened strong with a four-run first inning.
Bella Hess singled to second base, and
Avery Townsend advanced Hess to second with a sacrifice.
Emma Paul followed with a single, moving Hess to third. A sacrifice fly by
Jaylin McGill brought Hess home, and Paul later scored on a wild pitch.
Alexa Foresha doubled, scoring
Breonna Marietta, and
Paige Matteson singled to bring Foresha home. Fairmont State led 4-0 after the first inning.
In the third inning, the Falcons added another run when Matteson singled to left field, driving in McGill. The score increased to 5-0 in favor of Fairmont State.
Fairmont State extended its lead in the fourth inning with three more runs.
Carly Crowder, pinch running for Abbie Keilhoz, scored on an error. Hess stole second and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Paul. Townsend scored the third run of the inning on a ground out by Marietta. The inning concluded with Fairmont State leading 8-3.
After a quiet fifth inning, the Falcons exploded for four runs in the sixth. Hess doubled to drive in Keilhoz, Paul doubled to score Hess, and Marietta homered, bringing in Paul. By the end of the inning, Fairmont State held a 12-6 lead.
The seventh inning saw the Falcons solidifying their victory with four additional runs. Paul's single to right field brought in Hess and Keilhoz, while Marietta singled to score Townsend. McGill grounded out, allowing Paul to score the final run. Fairmont State closed the game with a decisive 16-6 victory over the Bobcats.
Caitlin Morey pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits, with five walks and one strikeout.
Liz Alsop relieved Morey, pitching two innings and giving up three earned runs on three hits, while issuing three walks and striking out one.
Olivia Hylton closed the game, pitching 1 1/3 innings and allowing four walks.
