Jake Goodnight enters his fifth as being a member of the coaching staff at Fairmont State. Goodnight joined the staff in 2023 after being a member of the team for five years.

Fairmont State baseball finished the 2026 season with a record of 19-29 while posting a mark of 12-16 in the Mountain East Conference. Four players were named All-MEC with Bryont Green leading the way as he was named Freshman of the Year and Second Team. Reilly Bubb (First Team), Micah Canterbury (Second Team) and Cameron Moore (Honorable Mention were also honored by the conference. Bubb also earned NCBWA and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors.

In 2025, the Falcons had a historic season posting a 28-28 record and going 17-11 in MEC games. Fairmont State made its way to the MEC Tournament Championship game before making it to the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the first time in program history.  The team defeated West Chester in the regional for the first NCAA Regional win in the team's history. Seven players were honored on the All-MEC Teams: Quintin Reep (First Team), Quintin Smith (Second Team), Tyler Haskins (Honorable Mention), Ryan Goff (Honorable Mention), Cameron Moore (Honorable Mention), Zach Brennan (Honorable Mention) and Micah Canterbury (Honorable Mention).

The 2024 season was a bounce back year for the Falcons as they went 20-29 while finishing 16-12 in conference play. Fairmont State made it to the MEC Tournament where it fell just one game short of making it to Championship Sunday. Quintin Smith was named All-MEC Second Team while Ryan Goff joined him with an Honorable Mention distinction. 

Following the 2023 season, the Falcons finished with a 11-35 record and posted a record of 10-20 in league matchups. Four members of the team earned Academic All-District honors in 2023 including Ryan Goff, Logan McClure, Isaac Miller and Steven Ricketts. 

Goodnight finished his collegiate career at Fairmont State in the Spring of 2022. He played in 123 games for the Falcons with 116 starts and over that time he batted an average of .313 with 118 hits, 86 runs, 62 RBI with 20 stolen bases. In the field, he finished with a fielding percentage of .926. He earned Academic All-MEC in 2022 and was named to the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2021.

A graduate of University High School in Morgantown, W.Va., Goodnight still resides in Morgantown.
