Luke Wright is entering his third season as Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Fairmont State University after joining the program during the summer of 2018. Wright also added Special Teams Coordinator to his title prior to the 2019 season.
In 2019, Wright helped the Falcons rank 13th in the country in total offense, 18th in scoring offense, and the Fairmont State passing attack was the 36th-best in the country at 251.8 yards per game. In his second season with the Falcons in 2019, Wright was instrumental in the development of two receivers that racked up over 750 receiving yards and eight TD receptions, including first team All-MEC selection Javon Hayes.
On special teams, the Falcons' kickoff return unit ranked 24th in NCAA Division II at 23.2 yards per return during the 2019 season.
In 2018, his first season with the Falcons, Wright helped the team to a 9-2 overall record and helped develop a pair of Fairmont State receivers that earned All-MEC honors following the regular season. Shawn Harris earned second team All-MEC honors, while Javon Hayes received MEC honorable mention. The Fairmont State passing offensive ranked fourth in the league at 224.1 yards per game.
Wright arrived at Fairmont State after serving as wide receivers and special teams quality control coach at Towson University during the spring of 2018, his second stint with the Tigers.
Wright spent the 2017 season as Wide Receivers Coach at Hiram University, a NCAA Division III member of the North Coast Conference. His duties at Hiram included social media promotion for the football program, video coordination, football operations during team travel and serving as an assistant academic coordinator.
Prior to Hiram, Wright was a quality control coach at Towson, where he worked with defensive and special teams staff and was heavily involved in recruiting.
Prior to his first stint with Towson, he served one season as the wide receivers coach at Division II Quincy University. As the receivers coach for the Hawks, Wright helped wideout Eric Poindexter earn All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors. That season, he tallied 930 yards on 57 receptions while scoring 11 touchdowns.
Along with his coaching stints at Hiram, Towson and Quincy, Wright made stops with both McDaniel College (2014) and Century High School early in his coaching career. While with the Green Terror in 2014, Wright served as the running backs coach. In addition, he served as the offensive coordinator at CHS in 2013.
A four-year member of the Duquesne University football team, Wright was a member of the 2011 NEC Championship team.
Wright earned his Bachelor's degree in history from Duquesne in 2013 before going on to get his Master’s in educational leadership from Quincy University.
