- Two-sports standout at Bridgeport High School
- As a member of the basketball team at Bridgeport, Smith averaged 10 points to help lead the Indians' to back-to-back state semifinal appearances
- Standout three-point shooter during high school career
- Also a member of the BHS pitching staff, where Smith helped lead the Indians to a pair of state championships in 2014 and 2015 before missing the 2016 season due to an injury
- Will also be a member of the Fairmont State baseball team
