Kelsie Maloney, a four-time Big 12 Champion as a member of the West Virginia University women’s soccer team, was named women’s soccer coach at Fairmont State University during the summer of 2016.
Maloney takes over as the programs second head coach and will lead the Falcons into their second season as full members of NCAA Division II during the 2016 campaign.
Prior to taking over the FSU program, Maloney was an Assistant Coach and Trainer for the U13/14 girl’s team at Mountaineer United. In addition, Maloney worked as a youth soccer trainer since 2012 and has served as a youth and high school camp instructor and counselor since 2008.
Maloney, a four-year standout at the forward position under head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown at West Virginia, was no stranger to success as a player for the Mountaineer’s, recording 13 goals and 11 assists in 80 appearances for the blue and gold. In addition to helping WVU to four-straight Big 12 titles, the Mountaineers also made four NCAA Tournament appearances and earned a berth in the NCAA Elite Eight during Maloney’s career.
After being named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team following her freshman season, Maloney had a career-best six goals as a sophomore, ranking third on the team and sixth in the league. That season, she led the Mountaineers and ranked second in the Big 12 with four game-winners.
Maloney was also a Big 12 Player of the Week following a four-point performance against Missouri that included the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute during her junior season.
Maloney was an ESPNHS State All-Star and TopDrawSoccer.com Mid-Atlantic Regional Top 10 recruit coming out of Bishop McDevitt High School, racking up 165 goals and 56 assists during her high school career. The standout set records for career goals (165), and goals (49) and assists (18) in a single season at Bishop McDevitt High.
Maloney earned a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from West Virginia University.
