Jackie Buchanan begins her fourth season as assistant volleyball coach at Fairmont State University after joining the program in the summer of 2014. Buchanan was a three-year standout on the volleyball team at Ohio State University-Newark, earning all-conference honors as a defensive specialist.

In 2016, Buchanan helped lead the Falcons to a 21-14 overall record as the team earned a bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998. The Falcons also advanced to their third-consecutive MEC Tournament Championship Match during postseason play and right-side hitter Mackenzie Harrison earned honorable mention All-America honors from D2CCA following the season.

Two seasons ago, the Falcons finished the year with a 25-8 overall record and a 14-2 mark in MEC play, landing five players on Mountain East Conference postseason teams. Buchanan helped develop Erin Harwood into one of the top servers in program history, as Harwood left Fairmont State ranked second in career aces with 258.
 
In 2014, Buchanan helped lead the Falcons to a 24-7 overall record and a runner-up finish in both the MEC regular season and postseason tournament. Four players earned postseason honors for the Falcons following the season and FSU appeared in the regional rankings every week before just missing the NCAA Tournament.

In her role with the Falcons, Buchanan assists with the day-to-day operations of the volleyball program and works specifically with defensive specialists and servers.
 
Prior to arriving in Fairmont, Buchanan spent the previous six years coaching high school volleyball, most recently at Greenville High School in South Carolina.
 
Buchanan also has several years of experience coaching volleyball at the college level. As an assistant coach at Lander University and Limestone College, Buchanan helped lead the teams to conference championships. During the 2004-05 season, Buchanan was the Head Volleyball/Softball Coach at Union College. Under her guidance, the volleyball team had a record of 15-19 overall and a 12-8 mark in league play.
 
Buchanan’s coaching career began in 2002 at her alma mater, helping the volleyball team to a 15-7 record as the team’s assistant coach.
 
Buchanan has also coached Junior Olympic Club Volleyball on the national and regional level for the past seven years and has experience organizing and assisting with volleyball camps.
 
Buchanan earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in 2002 and obtained a master’s in K-12 education at Union College in 2005.
