Before Fairmont State
- Was a standout libero and defensive specialist at nearby Morgantown High School
- Recorded 412 kills, 327 digs and 72 aces as a senior for the Mohigans
- Also had a .326 attacking percentage as a senior
- Earned second team All-State honors in 2017 and 2018
- Also earned first team All-OVAC honors as a junior and senior and helped lead Morgantown to four-consecutive State Tournament appearances
- In addition to OVAC conference honors, McDonald was also a two-time member of the All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference Volleyball Team as a first team selection (2017, 2018)
- Earned All-Conference Academic honors three times (2016, 2017, 2018)
- Helped lead Morgantown to an Ohio Valley Athletics Conference Championship in Volleyball during the 2018 season
- Was also a two-year member of the MHS basketball team

- Has a younger brother, Mason
- Her father, Steve, was head women’s basketball coach at Fairmont State from 2000-2019 – he is the all-time winningest coach in Fairmont State women’s basketball history with a record of 367-196
- Her mother, Melissa, was a standout volleyball player at West Virginia Wesleyan from 1991-1994
- Plans to major in National Security & Intelligence, with a minor in Professional Writing
