FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Hailey Garrett netted 19 points in the opening half to let Fairmont State grab an early lead and roll to an 89-49 victory over Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
Garrett finished the game with 21 points, 18 rebounds and five assists. The senior went 7-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Hallie Gunnoe chipped in 15 points and
Amanda Ruffner scored a career-high 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Falcons.
Emily Puskarich also reach double-figures with 12 points on 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
Alderson Broaddus was led by Erica Brooks with a team-high nine points. Rachel Ashley chipped in eight points and Madeson McCaster brought down a team-leading five boards.
The Falcons shot over 50 percent from the floor for the second-consecutive game, making 32-of-58 field goal attempts in the game. FSU also held a 52-32 advantage on the boards and had 22 assists in the game. The Falcons have had at least 19 assists in their first three games this season.
ABU managed just 29 percent from the floor.
Fairmont State also scored 36 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers in a game in which they never trailed.
The Falcons will return to action on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in a non-conference game against Ohio Valley.
