FSU Rallies Past Urbana, 66-56

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- After trailing by six at the half, Fairmont State out-scored Urbana by 16 in the second half to pick up the 66-56 victory on Saturday afternoon in MEC action.

With the victory, FSU improves to 9-2 overall and 3-2 in Mountain East Conference action. UU falls to 1-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

The Falcons shot 45 percent in the second half after managing just 29 percent in the opening half and scored 15 second chance points on 16 offensive rebounds in the victory. FSU also held a 45-36 advantage on the boards and knocked down 13-of-16 free throw attempts on the afternoon.

Urbana struggled from the field with just eight field goals and shot 29 percent in the second half. The Blue Knights shot 33.9 percent (20-of-59) in the game. Both teams struggled from behind the arc, with Urbana holding a slim advantage (29.4/28.0).

Emily Lohr scored 20 points, including six three-pointers, and pulled down seven rebounds in the victory. Lohr had 11 points in the second half. Hallie Gunnoe chipped in 14 points while Emily Puskarich added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. Puskarich was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Despite battling early foul trouble, Hailey Garrett chipped in six points and a team-high eight boards.

UU was led by Katy Barkley with 13 points and eight rebounds. Jeni Jordan chipped in 12 points and eight boards while Megan Hatfield came off the bench to add 11 for the Blue Knights. Kennedy Boggs had a team-high five assists.

FSU will host Notre Dame College on Monday evening at Joe Retton Arena, starting at 5:30 p.m., before begining a three-game road trip on Thursday.
