PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State women's soccer team was edged late by Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium in Philippi.
The first goal of the game came from Alderson Broaddus's Brittany Minor in the 60th minute when she scored on a deflection in front of the Fairmont State net.
Harley Boyd tied the game at the 81:06 mark with an assist from
Erica Uselton as she scored from five-yards out to tie the game at a goal apiece.
Minor also scored the game-winning goal for ABU with less than five minutes remaining in regulation when she scored from 15-yards out down the center of the field. The goal was assisted by Chanel Nkounkou.
The Battlers outshot the Falcons, 20-5, in the victory, including a 9-2 mark in shots on goal. ABU also had seven corner kicks compared to none for Fairmont State.
Boyd recorded two shots on goal for the Falcons, including their only goal of the game. Uselton,
Stephanie DeLawder and
Madison Lough also recorded shots for the Falcons.
Shawna Graham racked up seven saves in the FSU net on the afternoon.
The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday night when they host the University of Charleston at 7:30 p.m.at Duvall-Rosier Field.
