Falcons Wear Down Pioneers, 109-93

GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Fairmont State wore down Glenville State, 109-93, on Monday night at the Waco Center to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain East Conference.
 
Fairmont State once again dominated the paint in the victory, holding a 50-32 advanatge in points in the paint and outrebounding Glenville, 44-33. There were also a combined 60 fouls whistled in the game with the teams shooting 84 free throws on the evening.
 
The Falcons had five players reach double-figures in the victory, including Matt Bingaya with a team-best 22 points and six rebounds. Caleb Davis also turned in a 20-point scoring performance with 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Falcons also got 15 points apiece from Chase Connor and Thomas Wimbush and Vonte Montgomery added 13 off the bench. Connor drilled five three-pointers in the win.
 
The Falcons shot 50 percent from the field (36-of-72) and 38.5 percent from three (10-of-26) in the win. FSU also scored 27 points on 39 free throw attempts and forced 20 GSC turnovers that turned into 27 points on the offensive end.
 
Glenville State (2-3, 1-1 MEC) was led by a game-high 28 points from Sedric Nady in the loss. Nady was 12-of-15 from the free throw line. Denarius Odell came off the bench for the Pioneers and chipped in 19 points while Micah Thomas added15. Last week's MEC Player of the Week was limited to just 10 points and seven boards by the Falcons. GSC managed just 44 percent from the field and scored 34 of its 93 points from the charity stripe.
 
The Falcons will play a key non-conference matchup against Bowie State on Saturday afternoon in Maryland. Tip is set for 4 p.m.
