No. 6 Shepherd Too Much For Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Sixth-ranked Shepherd was too much for Fairmont State on Thursday evening at Duvall-Rosier Field, defeating the Falcons 41-14 on senior night.

With the win, Shepherd improves to 9-0 overall and in the Mountain East Conference. FSU slips to 5-4 on the season.

The Shepherd offense rolled up 401 yards of total offense and were led by Jeff Ziemba with 217 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-21 passing in the game. Billy Brown tallied seven catches for 121 yards and a score to lead the SU receivers. Allen Cross led the Shepherd rushing attack with 118 yards on 17 carries and a score while Jabre Lolley finished with 49 yards and two touchdowns.

Fairmont State was led offensively by Brandon Boyd with 10 receptions for 142 yards and both of Fairmont's touchdowns. Quarterback Cooper Hibbs completed 16-of-38 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Hibbs also threw a pair of interceptions after coming into the game with just one on the season. Austin White led FSU on the ground with 73 yards on 18 carries. The Shepherd defense held the FSU rushing attack to just 48 yards in the game.

Jerry Iweh led the FSU defense with nine total tackles, including five solo and two for a loss. Marcus Porter also chipped in seven total tackles and Stephen Turner added six. Dalton Inman forced the only turnover for the Falcon defense by forcing a fumble that was recovered by Josh Ballard.

CJ Davis, Keon Robinson, Octavius Thomas and Jaylen Johnson each recorded five tackles for the SU defense. The Rams had 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks and forced three turnovers in the win.

The Falcons will look to rebound next Saturday when they travel to Glenville State for the final game of the 2015 season. Kickoff is set for 7:10 p.m. against the Pioneers.
