FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State held Concord to 28 percent from the field to pick up its 20th win of the season, 70-52, on Thursday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
With the win, FSU improved to 20-6 overall and 14-6 in the Mountain East Conference. Concord falls to 7-17 overall and 7-13 in the league.
The Falcons had five players reach double figures, led by
Emily Lohr with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Hailey Garrett chipped in 14 points and
Hallie Gunnoe recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and a team-high six assists.
Tess Zufall added 13 points off the bench and
Emily Puskarich rounded out the Falcons in the double figures with 11.
Fairmont State shot 44 percent from the floor and drained 10 three-pointers in the victory. FSU also held a 41-37 advantage on the boards and outscored CU in the paint, 22-14.
The Falcons held Concord to just eight field goals in the opening half to open up an 11-point advantage at the break. Puskarich scored nine and Garrett and Zufall each chipped in eight to lead FSU in the opening half. After grabbing a double-digit lead with 49 seconds remaining in the first half, FSU did not allow Concord to cut the lead back to single digits the rest of the game.
Concord was led by Jacqueline Kestner with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Rachel Artrip also reached double figures with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The Falcons will play their final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon against UVa-Wise at 2 p.m. FSU will honor its four seniors before the men's game on Saturday afternoon.
