GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Fairmont State's three seniors scored 67 of the team's 92 points to help the Falcons avenge an early season loss to Glenville State with a 92-83 victory on Monday evening at the Waco Center.
Hailey Garrett scored 29 and
Hallie Gunnoe added 26 to lead Fairmont State (17-4, 11-4 MEC) in the victory.
Emily Lohr also reached double figures with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. In addition to her 26 points, Gunnoe added seven rebounds, five assists and five steals for the Falcons.
Trailing 19-12 with 11:29 to go, Fairmont State went on a 20-5 run over the next five minutes and never trailed the rest of the way. The Falcons shot 56 percent from the field in the win while limiting Glenville State to just 42 percent.
In the opening half, Gunnoe paced the Falcons by going 6-of-11 from the field and scoring 15 points before the break. GSC nailed seven of its 10 three-pointers in the opening half and were led by Keyanna Tate with 14 points and seven boards in the opening 20 minutes.
After scoring just four points in the opening half, Garrett was a force in the second half by going 9-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the free throw line and totaled 25 second half points. Garrett recorded her fifth 20-point performance in the last six games.
Fairmont State held a 41-35 advantage on the boards.
Tate registered a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Pioneers (10-9, 8-7 MEC). Katrina Salins had 15 and Brittany Jackson scored 11.
The Falcons will return to action on Thursday evening when they travel to Urbana for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
