URBANA, Ohio -- Hallie Gunnoe recorded the first 30-point performance of the season to lead Fairmont State past Urbana, 86-69, on Thursday evening at the Warren G. Grimes Center in Urbana. The 30 points for Gunnoe were also a career high for the senior.
With the win, the Falcons remain in a four-way tie for the top spot in the MEC standings with an 18-4 overall record and 12-4 mark in the league. Urbana slips to 1-21 overall and 1-15 in the league.
Fairmont State shot 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the floor and held a 46-37 advantage on the glass. The Falcons limited Urbana to just 31.8 percent from the field.
Gunnoe went 12-of-19 from the floor and pulled down 10 rebounds to add to her 30 points.
Emily Lohr also tallied a double-double by scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 boards. Lohr and Etter each passed out four assists for the Falcons.
Kennedy Boggs led Urbana with 25 points in the losing effort, 10 of which came at the free throw line. Brittany Atkinson (15) and Tori Purk (13) also reached double figures. Katy Barkley led UU on the glass with 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.
The Falcons recorded 17 assists in the win and knocked down 19-of-24 free throw attempts. The Blue Knights knocked down 24-of-31 free throw attempts as the teams combined for 40 fouls in the game.
Urbana scored 18 points off 14 FSU turnovers. The Blue Knights had just seven turnovers in the game. The Falcons had 15 second-chance points and got 20 points from the bench in the victory.
FSU will now travel to Notre Dame College for a 1 p.m. tip on Saturday in South Euclid.
