URBANA, Ohio -- Fairmont State and Urbana split the opening day of a four-game Mountain East Conference series, 0-2, 13-4, on Saturday afternoon at Blue Knights Field in Urbana.
In game one of the series, Urbana (8-15, 6-12 MEC) shut-out Fairmont State, 2-0 after a complete game performance by Nick Bozman on the hill. Bozman (3-3) struck out nine batters and allowed just two hits in the win.
The Blue Knights picked up the win off of the bats of Evan Hacker and Roman Gammell with the only RBI in the game.
Corey Lilly (1-6) had a solid pitching performance for the Falcons, allowing just two runs on six hits in a complete-game performance.
Fairmont State (5-21, 5-19 MEC) recorded 15 hits and scored 13 runs in game two to snap a six-game losing streak.

Josh Wine. Urbana responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to grab a short-lived lead before
Scott Hessler and
Maverick Keller brought home a pair of runs in the third to put FSU back in front, 3-2.
From that point, Fairmont State rolled to the victory and stretched its lead to as many as 11 (13-2). The Falcons scored three runs in the 4
th and five runs in the 6th to key their pull-away victory.
Nic Rush homered and
Alex Levitan hit a three-run double in the sixth to provide four of the runs for FSU.
Hessler wrapped up the scoring for FSU with an RBI double that brought home
Tyler Gross in the top of the seventh. UU added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score, 13-4.
Tyler Holt (2-2) picked up the victory for the Falcons on the hill after pitching six innings in relief for
Ryan Badertscher.
