URBANA, Ohio -- Urbana took the final two games of its series with Fairmont State to earn the 3-1 series victory in Urbana on Sunday afternoon at Blue Knights Field.
In game one of the day, it was all Urbana following an RBI single by
Adam Meeker in the top of the first inning. Following the first inning, the Falcons were limited to three hits and committed three errors in the loss. The Blue Knights also had a big day from the plate, scoring eight runs on 12 hits to pick up the runaway victory.
In game two of the afternoon, UU picked up its second win of the day with an RBI single in the bottom of the eight to walk-off with the win.
After struggling from the plate in the first game of the day, FSU was led by
Josh Wine in game two with a solo home run in the first and a three-run double in the second.
Dorian Hetzel also homered for the Falcons in the fifth inning to give FSU a 5-4 advantage but the extra base hits were not enough to earn the series split.
FSU will return home to host Glenville State on Tuesday afternoon at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
