BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State dropped a pair of home games against Glenville State, 4-2, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
Â
After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning of game one,
Trevor Malnick hit an RBI single to right center in the bottom half of the inning to put the Falcons on the board.
Adam Meeker helped drive in a second run for the Falcons in the fourth inning when an error by the shortstop allowed
Josh Wine to reach home from second. However, Glenville added one more run in the top of the seventh and held FSU in check the rest of the afternoon to lock up the 4-2 win.
Â
After Glenville jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning in game two,
Nic Rush answered quickly for FSU by hitting his third home run of the season and the game was tied at 1-1 after two innings of play. The Pioneers took control of the game from that point, however, scoring six of the final seven runs of the game to run away with the 7-2 victory and sweep of the Falcons in the MEC doubleheader.
Â
The Falcons will play their final home series of the season over the weekend against the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
