Saturday's Matchup• The Falcons will hit the road for the first time this season against the Concord Mountain Lions on Saturday afternoon in Athens. Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
• The Falcons own a 43-34-2 series record against Concord in a series that began back in 1932. However, Concord is winners of the last six games between the programs.
• Fairmont State'e last victory in the series came back in 2008, a 27-8 victory in Athens.
• Both teams come into the game with an 0-1 record as FSU fell to WV State, 59-34, at home last weekend and No. 9 Concord was upset by West Liberty, 29-28 on the road.
• Despite losing last year's contest, 45-21, at home, Fairmont State's
Fabian Guerra received national attention by hauling in an unbelievable one-handed catch between two defenders in the second quarter.
• The catch was the No. 3 play in the SportsCenter Top 10 plays and received national attention from ESPN, NFL Network and Big Ten Network the following week.
• The catch also earned MEC Play of the Year for 2014-15.
• Quarterback
Cooper Hibbs completed 25-of-42 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns last season against the Mountain Lions.
• Hibbs continues to climb the FSU record book in several categories, he is currently 4th in career passing yards (3,651), fifth in career touchdowns (27) and fourth in career completions (291)

Austin White recorded the only 100-yard rushing performance of the season last season against CU, tallying 108 yards on 24 carries.
• Linebacker
Marcus Porter recorded 11 tackles (10 solo) against the Mountain Lions a season ago to lead the FSU defense.
• Concord running back Calvinaugh Jones averaged 6.9 yards per carry and rushed for 144 yards on 21 carries last season in Fairmont.
• Jones also scored three touchdowns in the victory.
Week 1 Recap• After jumping out to a 37-7 lead at the half, WV State continued to add to its point total and picked up a 59-34 victory over the Falcons.
• The Falcons struggled with penalties, particularly in the first half where they racked up 12 penalties for 112 yards.
• The Fairmont State offense had 396 yards of total offense in the game, led by Quarterback
Cooper Hibbs.
• Hibbs' final stat line for the game was 17-of-30 for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
• FSU wide receiver
Fabian Guerra hauled in six receptions for 123 yards and a score.
• Week one was Guerra's fifth 100-yard receiving performance of his career.
• In the fourth quarter, Guerra hauled in a pass and was tackled at the WV State 1-yard-line, preventing him from the first two touchdown game of his career.
• Redshirt-freshman
James Oliver led the Falcons' ground attack, tallying 73 yards and two touchdowns.
• On defense,
Quincy Redmon accounted for eight tackles (six solo) for the Falcons.
Scouting the Mountain Lions• Concord opened the season ranked No. 9 in the AFCA poll, before falling to No. 22 after its week one loss. Two MEC teams are currently ranked in the top 25 (Shepherd, #25)
• Concord has several playmakers on offense, led by running back Calvinaugh Jones, who ran for 1,734 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014. Jones rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on Saturday in the season-opener against WLU.
• Sophomore wide receiver T.J. Smith was named the 2014 MEC Offensive Freshman of the Year, after tallying 51 catches for 1,157 yards and 13 touchdowns. Smith opened the season with 96 yards on eight receptions in week one.
• Quarterback Brian Novak completed 23-of-32 passes for three touchdowns and threw 3 interceptions in Concord's week one loss to West Liberty.
• Novak completed passes to eight different receivers in Week 1, highlighted by T.J. Smith with eight receptions.
• Senior linebacker Cade Rogers led the Mountain Lions with 11 tackles, including four solo in Week 1.
• Sophomore defensive back Chaudlier Shepherd provided solid play in the secondary in week one, totaling five tackles (1 TFL), two pass deflections, a pass break-up, and snagging an interception.
• West Liberty recorded a safety and made a 32-yard field goal in the final 2:37 last Saturday to pick up the upset victory against No. 9 Concord.
• The Mountain Lions had the ball on the WLU 20 in the final seconds of the game before time expired without CU getting the chance to attempt a game-winning field goal. Novak completed a pass to Brandon Piver for 30-yards to set the Mountain Lions up at the WLU 20.
• Wide receiver Jermeil Douse scored both second half touchdowns for CU on Saturday and finished with three catches for 72 yards.
