FSU, WLU Battle To A Scoreless Draw

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The women's soccer matchup between Fairmont State and West Liberty ended in a scoreless draw on Thursday night at Duvall-Rosier Field.

Fairmont's Erica Uselton had the best scoring opportunity of the day for both teams in the 97th minute when her shot hit the left goal post to extend the game. The teams combined for seven shots in the first 10-minute overtime period.

West Liberty's Janice Johnson had two scoring opportunities in the final 10-minute overtime session and Sarah Evans had a scoring opportunity with just four second remaining before Shawna Graham made the save and ended the game as a draw.

WLU also had an opportunity to score late in regulation by firing two shots at the FSU goal in a 22 second span, one was saved by Graham and the other was wide right of the goal.

Uselton led the FSU attack with five shots in the draw. Courtney Webb also had two scoring chances in the game that were saved by Hannah Judkins in the Hilltopper goal.

Shawna Graham put together a great performance in the FSU goal, recording 15 saves to earn her first draw of the season.

Johnson and Thanna Oddo each had seven shots on goal for the 'Toppers on the evening.

The Falcons were called for 15 fouls compared to just three for West Liberty. The game also featured six yellow cards and a red card.

The Falcons will remain at home for a 2 p.m. match against Urbana on Sunday at Duvall-Rosier Field.
